Welcome to the official iPhoneBlogr jailbreaking guide. If you have a device with one of the firmware revisions listed above you are already one step closer to jailbreaking your device. The first thing you should do before continuing with this guide is back up your device using iTunes. After you have a complete backup you may continue with the guide.
The current method for jailbreaking mostly all iDevices is a PDF exploit within the Mobile Safari application. Because of this, you do not need a computer to jailbreak, everything is done right from the device itself using the application.
After you have a successful backup launch your Mobile Safari app and go to the url http://jailbreakme.com When you get there you will see a screen that says “slide to jailbreak”
Slide the bar at the bottom just as if you were going to unlock your phone.
The download will initiate after you slide, I usually try to do it on a wifi connection if I can because it seems to go faster. After it downloads it will take a minute or two to install and then you will see a screen confirming that the jailbreak was successful.
At this time you can close out of Mobile Safari and when you get to your springboard you should now see a Cydia application indicating that you have jailbroken your device successfully! Please note that you will now see a string of pixels on the boot screen when you restart your phone. This is completely normal.
Now simply go to the Cydia application, add your favorite repositories and download all the 3rd party apps you can fit on your device!
Some of the apps iPhoneBlogr staff recommend are:
Sbsettings – a control panel for your idevice that can be opened with the swipe of a finger across the top of the screen. This app will give you instant access to certain “toggles” and settings.
Winterboard – an application used to skin your device so you can change it from the boring apple default theme.
Frash – enables flash in your mobile safari browser.
MultiFl0w – a much better multitasking interface(also install disable ios4 multitasking)
