My Iphone Dev Secret Review and Is It Suitable for You?

This is a Iphone Dev Secrets review from me, which I have recently bought to learn how to create and promote my own iPhone application and hopefully, get rich!

Well, getting rich is really the aim for me, hence my search for this guide and my initial impression of this iPhone Dev Secrets guide.

Who I Am?

I am a programmer by trade but what I know has nothing to do with iPhone app programming.  It seems like another world for me.

For a programmer who is growing older each year, the brain just doesn’t function as well or absorb as fast as I should be.  But the money and success involved in selling applications or games like angry birds are just too good to ignore.

And when I found out this kid (who already has a app selling in the app store) below is already earning so much more than I am now, I guess I had to start now!

So my search began for the best and not too expensive iPhone application development guide…

There were a couple of online guides claiming that they will show all the steps involved in making our first application become a success.

I have serious doubts about instant success.

My experience tells me it will take a few trial and errors before you manage to find the winning formula.

And not to mention that the guides are expensive!

It can range from $99 to $1000!

So my research lead me to this iPhone Dev Secret Guide.

So what attracted me to this guide?

The first reason why I wanted to get this guide is because -> I will be very, very honest…

It is all because of the $1 trial for 30 days that attracted me to this guide.

The rest of the guides either have very dodgy sales websites or are simply too expensive.

I do not wish to buy something so expensive, only to find out the guide is simply useless.

Hence when this guide appeared, the price is just right for me to find out what exactly is in the course, and whether it will be worth to pay the full amount after 30 days.  I think it is a fair deal, and no monetary loss on my end.

Second reason was that the author of iPhone Dev Secrets Guide have some videos as proof.

Now, I do not know for sure if the videos i see are true or not, but it does give me the extra interest to give this guide a chance.

There is a video on his website showing what we can get to see in his website once you have started the trial too and I feel it was quite alright.

I just bought the guide today and you can watch the video below on my steps from getting the $1 trial to accessing the website.

There is a buzzing sound in the background and it can be pretty irritating so you can skip the video and continue reading if you like.

I should rephrase that this iPhone Dev Secrets is not really a guide book but it is more like a course that is split into 4 weeks.  You are required to follow the videos for each week.

And each week contains around 8 to 13 videos, including PDF files for you to read as well.

I have briefly glance through the topics for the 4 weeks and i can roughly summarize:

Week 1: Market Research, Audience, Ideas for Apps

Week 2: Start Coding

Week 3: Integration of more complex programs

Week 4: Submitting and getting Approval from Apple, and how to market your application

Week 1: Market Research, Audience, Ideas for Apps

For this week 1, I find this topic pretty boring but sadly, it is one of the most important.  If you do not find out what the market wants, it is highly likely that your first iPhone app is going to be a disaster.

I will try to do my research and hopefully, avoid a disaster.

Week 2: Start Coding

For most programmers, this will be the part where we will find the initial programming coding exercises too simple, but for others who are not familiar with programming, this is actually a good step to learn how do you start programming.

The first application you create will be the “hello world” application.  For anyone who has learn programming, we always start with the “hello world” program as it is the best way to introduce how to use a new programming language.

And subsequently, you will be given slightly longer codes to learn.  The good thing is that there are free source codes that we can view and follow.

I have briefly gone through all the videos for week 2 and I find it pretty interesting.

Will give an update once I have completed my first few applications in the coming weeks.

Week 3: Integration of more complex programs

This is where you will be shown how to use other software to integrate with your iPhone application, like adding 2D and 3D graphics as well as inserting music into your application.

I have yet to go through the entire set of videos but it seems promising so far.

Week 4: Submitting and getting Approval from Apple, and how to market your application

Of all the weeks, this is one of the most important as this can make or break your efforts.

If apple does not approve your application, then there is no way you can start marketing.

And even if your iPhone application gets approved, if no one knows your application exists, your efforts will be down the drain too, regardless of how good or fun your application can be.

Summary:

Personally, I like what I have seen so far for week 2 to week 4 but I dread doing market research for week 1.  Sadly it is the most important step.

Who is not suitable for iPhone Dev Secrets Course?

1 – If you are an established iPhone application programmer, then this guide is probably not for you.

You might probably find it too basic, except for week 4, which is on how to promote your application.

2 – If you are not a programmer, do not intend to start learning programming, and intends to outsource to other freelance programmers, then maybe this course might not be for you.

If you are still interested, and the trial is only $1, there is no harm giving it a try.

Who is suitable for iPhone Dev Secrets Course?

I personally feel this course is suitable for 2 groups of people:

1 – For programmers who do not know how iPhone programming works and need to see sample codes and videos guides, then this iPhone development secrets course will be good for you.

So week 2 to week 4 will be beneficial.

2 – For a person who do not know programming but is willing to start learning the entire process, from the research, to programming your first iPhone application till the final launch to the apple app store.

For now, since I just started the course, I will highly recommend this iPhone Dev Secret course to anyone since the initial investment is such a pantry amount and there are a lot of information to go through.
